What is Turtel?
Turtel is a private group text between you, your partner and Turtel, which asks the questions. One thoughtful question arrives in the thread, the kind neither of you would think to ask. You both answer in your own words, and the conversation stays between the two of you. There is no app to download and no account for your partner to create.
How do we start?
Sign up on the web and add both phone numbers. Turtel texts your partner one invitation, and nothing else is sent unless they answer. When they reply YES, Turtel opens the group text with both of you and your first question arrives in about a minute. New accounts get an SMS trial of one question a day for 7 days, with no card required.
What can we text Turtel?
Text "turt new question" for another question, "turt topics" to see the themes your questions are drawn from, "turt style: playful" to change the tone, "turt intimacy: 3" to set how deep the questions go, and "turt help" for the full list. Topics are chosen on your dashboard, and cancelling happens from your account page.
Do we need to download an app?
No. Everything happens in the messaging app already on your phone. There is nothing to install, no password to remember and no notification settings to manage. If you can send a group text, you can use Turtel.
Are our answers private?
Your replies never leave your messages. We keep only who replied, when, and how long the reply was, not what it said. Your answers stay in your own message thread, the same as any other text.
What does it cost?
Sign up free and start an SMS trial from your dashboard, one question a day for 7 days, no card required. After that, Base is $4.99 a month for one question a week by text in your group chat, and Premium is $12.99 a month for unlimited questions on demand plus control over topics, tone and depth. Yearly billing saves 20 percent.
Can we control when questions arrive?
Yes. Premium subscribers text "turt new question" whenever they are both ready, as often as they like. Base subscribers receive one question a week. Nothing arrives in the middle of the night: delivery is scheduled for a reasonable hour in your own timezone.
Can we change the kind of questions we get?
Yes, on Premium. Choose your topics on the dashboard, then text "turt style: playful" to change the tone between thoughtful, playful, growth-focused and balanced, or "turt intimacy: 4" to set how deep the questions go. Text "turt spicy on" for flirty, romantic questions, never explicit, and "turt spicy off" to go back. Everything can also be changed from your dashboard.
How do we cancel?
Cancel any time from your account page on the web; texting "turt stop" replies with the link to it. Either partner can also reply STOP to the Turtel number to stop all texts. Refunds follow our refund and dispute policy.
Do normal text message rates apply?
Turtel sends standard SMS, so whatever your carrier charges for texts applies. Most plans include unlimited texting. Check with your carrier if you are not sure.
Is there a limit on how many questions we can ask?
There is a generous cap to prevent abuse. If you go past it, on-demand questions pause for an hour and then resume on their own.
